Blog #3: Mean girls, Animal Scenes
I have chosen to write about the “Girls Gone Wild” scene from the movie Mean Girls. This is a classic scene from the movie that contributes all of the aspects of the movie at one time. There are two different scenarios going on in this one scene but they intertwine with ideas intertwine with each other.
In the fighting incidents there are large group of people, mostly females, fighting and wrestling one another. The sounds in the background are of two things, actual fighting and animal noises. I think this is relevant because there are two scenes in the movie where the main character, Cady, refers to how certain situations would be taken care of in “the animal world.” In these animal world scenes, the characters jump on top of each other and the noise that comes out of them are those of animals growling and making angry noises towards one another. In this scene, we are not supposed to be viewing the characters as if they are animals in Africa but instead we are viewing them as fighting like animals in a real like scene. The angry animal noises are then used in this scene to portray that the girls are acting like animals in the way that they’re fighting.
That’s shots are organized so that we are focused on one or two main characters at one time as they reflect on the situation but in the background we see the girls fighting and the intense growling noises. The camera is usually zoomed in on the main characters and then it slowly zoom out to show a hallway full of chaos.
The start of the scene shows the fighting and then then office scene where the principle is stating that is the contents of this book are scene than their will be chaos in the school. But little does he know that the chaos is already taking place. I think this adds a comedic element to the movie.

Blog #2: "What I hear"
The tires speed across the slipper road causing a steady moist ride echoing throughout the road on the evening of a rainy day. It’s a busy time of the day for the roads of 103rd street and Lexington Avenue. One after another the cars’ tires slide across the pavement creating a fast paced rhythm. Tires riding closer to the curb fall into puddles generating an upward waterfall of splashing rain to the sidewalk. The water heavily drops to the ground creating a loud thud. The raindrops crash into the sidewalk in loud thuds. The thuds are so hard that they sound like they could crack the cement and entire below the surface.
The traffic continues and the bus arrives to pick up its passengers causing a louder intense splash. The doors squeak open leading to a ringing beep. The high-sounding beeps reverberate in the ears of the passengers. The beeps are violent and demanding.
The random piercing sounds of a large object dropping repeats. The sound is caused by an unknown, unseen source but leaves a lasting impression and leaves a mystery as to what it could be; possibly the sounds of a dropping garbage cans or garbage disposal.
These are the sounds of a typical New York City day. Powerful noises take over the silence of the streets and even the peacefulness of residents sleep.

Artist Statement
I struggle to create.
It’s hard for me to sit down
with a task at hand to create original and outstanding ideas.
But sometimes it just hits me.
Just like it hit me to major in
Journalism.
Ever since I was a little girl
all I wanted to do was sing.I remember watching American Idol and telling my
mom and dad that I would audition one day.
But I never did.
I always had hope that I would
be in the spotlight being pampered, idolized and going on worldwide tours.
But my dad, my dad loved
college. He wouldn't let me get out of going to college. So I did and while I
did, I still believed I would sing.
I auditioned for The Voice in
2013 yet I did not make it.
I started to wonder, was
singing really for me? I then researched recording studios in the hopes of
obtaining an internship.
I landed one quit quickly at
Platinum Sound Recording Studios as a studio management intern.
I met tons of celebrities that
I looked up to and one day wanted to be. But I also met many struggling come-up
artists. Artist who sat around the studio trying to get sessions to sing so
they could one day be the next Beyonce.
I saw these artists move from
their hometown just to chase their dreams. All while being rejected by record
labels, being told they had to diet to look better and going to rehearsals one
after the other; however, they all remained in the same place. .
I met celebrities with snobby
attitudes that would come in with their groupies and mooching friends that just
wanted the money and the ladies that came with being famous.
It was eye opening.
I did not want to be a
celebrity any longer.
I realized there are so many
things happening behind the scenes that fans of these artists don’t know about
these people.
How do fans really know whom
they’re idolizing?
I now dream to be behind the
scenes to see into the lives of celebrities. I want to be a future journalist or
reporter. I want to reveal the secret lives of celebrities or simply give my
advise in a monthly column in a well-known entertainment magazine.
I want to be in the homes of
people who share the same love for entertainment as I do. Whether, it is these
people watching me as a host on an entertainment show or in their favorite
magazine.
